All in a shot: Perks for getting your Covid-19 vaccine

Government and businesses join forces, offering incentives to boost Covid-19 vaccination rates. Enjoy a range of perks including freebies, cash rewards, and even free rides to vaccination appointments with Uber and Lyft.
All in a shot: Perks for getting your Covid-19 vaccine
Who doesn’t like gifts, freebies or giveaways? Scoring free goodies feels like hitting the jackpot. Right now, getting back to normal is the jackpot we’re all aiming for, so a couple of pricks don’t seem like a bad idea for perks.

Whether it’s grabbing a free sample at the grocery store or starting a free trial membership at a nearby gym, it’s always exciting to get something for nothing. Only this time we ‘ll replace “nothing” with the Covid-19 vaccine. When getting pricked comes with multiple benefits like free food, coupons and a beer, it’s all worth a “shot”! Don’t you think?

Here are all the incentives you can get if you roll up your sleeves.

Vaccinate to date

Tired of being single and alone? Did lockdown add to that stress? Rumor has it that vaccinated people will have better dating lives. Says who? The US government, popular dating apps, of course, and their new partnership. All this to ensure you have healthy bodies and healthy dates. *wink wink*

If you’re an ardent user of dating apps like Tinder, OkCupid, Bumble and BLK, you should by now notice the new feature where you add a “vaccinated” badge to your profile. This will give you access to premium content, including the ability to like more people and filter in other people who have been vaccinated.

OkCupid even ups your chance of finding a match by 14%. Single and ready to mingle? There are two steps to this process. Get vaccinated and add the “vaccinated” badge to your profile  and it can’t get easier than this.

‘Donut’ say no to vaccination

Talk about sweet rewards! This one comes covered in sugar glaze. All you need to do is show up in person and show your vaccination card at Krispy Kreme. Then prepare to indulge in a lip-smacking incentive – one free original glazed donut every day for the rest of the year.

Off-screen to on-field

Step up to get your vaccinations if you want to step outside for some fun. It’s been a while since anyone got to enjoy some off-screen entertainment. Concerts, amusement parks, baseball games and more have been more of a no-show over the last year. But 2021 comes with new blessings and free tickets.

In Chicago, fully vaccinated people can get free access to the city’s summer concert series.

In New York, the State Department of Health is partnering with baseball teams – the New York Yankees and New York Mets – to offer free tickets to people who get the Covid-19 vaccine at their stadiums.

Shot and a beer

If you’re in New Jersey and you’d like to chill with a beer, you can get one for free. The New Jersey state government is offering a chance to get a free beer with proof of vaccination. You need to be over 21 though — and that is a prerequisite.

Tokens for poke’ns

If you bring your completed vaccine card at Up-Down Bar and Arcade across all six locations (Des Moines, Iowa; Kansas City, Kansas; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota; St. Louis, Missouri and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) you’ll be rewarded with 20 free game tokens. This campaign is called “Tokens for Poke’ns”.  You’ll have access to all the retro video games that Up-Down features from wall to wall. Time to get your game face on!

Ride or die?

You can now book a free ride to your vaccination appointments. Too good to be true? Believe it or not, people are banking on Uber and Lyft to be their “ride or die” down the path of vaccination. The White House, in partnership with ride-share platforms Uber and Lyft, has offered free rides to vaccination sites to help people make it to their vaccine appointments.

Get cheesy

Cheesecakes to the rescue? Not literally, but if you love cheesecakes, like Chandler and Rachel from ‘Friends’, this little offer will have you flocking to vaccination centers. Junior’s Cheesecake is offering mini cheesecakes for free to anyone who shows their Covid-19 vaccine card at their restaurant.

Who wants to be a millionaire?

No, we’re not referring to the TV show. This is an initiative by the New York Governor. He recently announced a “Vax & Scratch” program offering financial incentives for the vaccinated. Those receiving the Covid-19 vaccine are eligible to get a $20 ticket for a Mega Multiplier lottery game. The prizes range from $20 to a whopping $5 million. Don’t wait! Go win your chance to be a millionaire.

If you’re still second-guessing your reasons to go get vaccinated, think about all the freebies that will come your way. From mouth-watering delicacies to chances of becoming a millionaire, your options are endless. When the road to safety comes with so many benefits, don’t think just act. Go all in and get the most out of your Covid-19 vaccination.
